Undergraduate Departmental Scholarships The following scholarships are available to students in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University. Lieutenant
Colonel Charles P. Downer, Jr. Memorial Scholarships Scholarships
made possible by a fund established by relatives and friends of Lt. Col.
Charles P. Downer, Jr. are restricted to students in the Department of
Aerospace Engineering. Scholarships are
awarded for the fall and spring semesters of each school year on the basis of
satisfactory academic record, participation in technical and professional organizations, definite
interest in flying, and/or anticipation of a career in aviation. Participation
in Air Force ROTC is a desirable, but not mandatory, criterion. The scholarships are available to juniors
and seniors only. A student who is a recipient in his or her junior year will
be eligible for consideration the following year. Students are eligible to
apply from the beginning of the second semester of their sophomore year. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 per
year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per semester. Henry W. Shurlds,
Jr. Scholarship
The
recipient of the Shurlds scholarship must be majoring in Aerospace Engineering
and be a junior during the next academic year.
The amount of the scholarship is $500.00 per year and is distributed in
the amount of $250.00 per semester. The
recipient of the Shurlds scholarship is chosen based on criteria that are
weighted 50% by merit and 50% by need. Northrop-Grumman
Endowed Scholarship
Northrop-Grumman
Integrated Systems has provided a fund to endow a scholarship for deserving
students enrolled in the Mississippi State University Bagley College of
Engineering. The recipient of the
Northrop-Grumman scholarship must be a student in good standing in pursuit of a
Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Preference will be given to students from areas impacted by
Hurricane Katrina. The amount of the
scholarship is $1,000 per year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per
semester. Darwyn L. Ausbon,
Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The
Darwyn L. Ausbon, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Kristen
Ausbon to honor Darwyn Ausbon, a December 1996 graduate of Aerospace
Engineering at Mississippi State University.
The recipient must be a full-time student majoring in Aerospace
Engineering in the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State
University. Preference is given to
applicants with financial need. The amount of the
scholarship is $1,000 per year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per
semester.
